Because we wish to perpetuate the memory of the children, women and men who are by the practice of this trade the subject of discrimination and violence The main goal of this project is a better understandind of the people who exert this trade. We wish to index their dreams, their desires, their small and great happinesses but also their anguishes and their sorrows. Without never putting their anonymities at risk, we want them to share with us. This work is primarily politic. It is a play which enables us to trace the portrait of an individual starting from his feelings.
It is because the word "prostitute" is generally associated with the female gender that we decided to name the monument thus. It is also to increase the antithesis with the Monument of the Unk n Soldier. A memorial associated with the machists ideologies and a symbol indirectly dependent of the glorification of violence.
This project will materialise at the Manifestation internationale d'art de Québec in May 2005.
